We moved to our third announcement of the morning to the Manitouwadge Golden Age Centre for the Seniors Active Living Centres Funding for $55,000. This funding provides opportunities and programs to promote active seniors activities and socializing through shuffle board, darts, pool table, quilting and sewing among many other activities. This is a place to gather, have potlucks and luncheons. This keeps seniors active, limber and stimulating the mind and soul. Congratulations to all the volunteers that make this happen and help with the many events.

June is Seniors Month in Ontario – a time to acknowledge and recognize our amazing seniors across this province.
This year’s theme, Ontario Seniors—Let’s Get Moving highlights the importance of supporting our seniors and older adults through programs and initiatives that promote wellness, social engagement and education.
We all have seniors in our lives, whether they be friends, family or colleagues.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of Ontario funding Seniors Active Living Centre (SALC) programs. Ontario now has over 400 SALC programs providing activities and services for seniors and older adults in communities across the province.
From Wawa, Manitouwadge and Chapleau in the north, to Thessalon and Elliot Lake and Espanola; finally to Manitoulin Island’s Little Current, Gore Bay, Billings and Wikwemikong, there are seniors centres spread right across our riding of Algoma-Manitoulin.
I am proud to be here today in Manitouwadge with all of you in recognition of your 2026 Seniors Active Living Centre grant in the amount of $55,000.00.
Congratulations to everyone involved in this worthwhile project and I hope everyone in the community continues to enjoy the benefits these centres provide.
