Saturday August 9th and I am once again on beautiful Manitoulin Island. This time South Baymouth to celebrate the preserving of marine history. With co-operative efforts by the Tehkummahs Little Schoolhouse Museum and the South Baymouth Community Development Association artifacts from the Norisle have found their way back home.
Fifty years ago this year the Chi-Cheemaun ferry replaced the Norisle to meet higher traffic demands.
I presented a scroll and stories were told by men who worked on the Norisle as teenagers and many thank you’s were mentioned to all who helped make this possible .
