$93,681.24 for The Corporation of the Town of Espanola OPP
will help fight crime and keep people safe
The Town of Espanola —Ontario Provincial Police received $93,681.24 in 2025 as part of the Ontario government’s more than $91 million investment to help protect families and communities across the province.
The funding, delivered through the Community Safety and Policing Grant Program, supports enhanced access to mental health and addiction services through coordinated, proactive, and community-driven responses. It also enables revisions to the 2025–2030 Community Safety and Well-Being Plan to support the continued implementation of targeted initiatives addressing complex and intersecting mental health and substance use challenges. This work advances a preventative, compassionate, and person-centred approach, supported by meaningful community collaboration to reduce risk, improve outcomes, and build safer, healthier communities.
“Our government is committed to supporting communities with the tools they need to address mental health and substance use challenges in a proactive and compassionate way,” said Bill Rosenberg, MPP for Algoma–Manitoulin. “Through the Community Safety and Policing Grant Program, this funding will help strengthen access to mental health and addiction services, support meaningful community collaboration, and guide updates to the Community Safety and Well-Being Plan. By focusing on prevention, coordination, and person-centred supports, we are working to improve outcomes and build safer, healthier communities for everyone.”
The LaCloche Foothills Community Safety and Well Being Plan – Focus on Community Policing project is one of 127 projects being funded across the province for 2025-26. Of the 127 projects, 88 projects will address local priorities and 39 projects will address provincial priorities, including gun and gang related violence, sexual violence and harassment, human trafficking, mental health and addictions, hate-motivated crime, housing and homelessness, and commercial/retail theft.
“Our government is delivering on our promise to protect Ontario and keep communities safe,” said Solicitor General Michael Kerzner. “Through this funding, we are helping to build safer communities by ensuring Ontario’s police services have the resources they need to address local issues and improve the well-being of the people they serve.”
The Community Safety and Policing Grant Program supports policing initiatives that focus on local or provincial priorities and provides eligible police services/boards and municipalities policed by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with funding to deploy front-line officers where and when they are needed most.
