Emergency Preparedness Grants 2025 Recipients in Algoma-Manitoulin

March 28, 2026

Corporation of the Town of Thessalon, received $50,000 to purchase and install a generator, central air conditioning, air purifiers, cots, signage and other supplies for the Thessalon Marina, which acts as an emergency shelter and cooling centre during extreme heat emergencies.

Today we recognize the Town of Thessalon’s Community Emergency Preparedness Grant 2025.

Grant submissions were submitted by municipalities to help protect Algoma-Manitoulin in times of emergency. This program provides vital funding to support local emergency management training, purchase critical equipment, and improve infrastructure—making our communities safer and more resilient.

The Honourable Jill Dunlop Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response visited some of the recipients during a tour with me in October 2025.  I was disappointed to not visit every community, but I hope to visit your area in the near future to see your new equipment firsthand.

These investments build on our government’s $110 million investment to protect Ontario by ensuring communities are well-equipped, trained, and ready to respond before, during, and after emergencies.

Together, we have a wonderful opportunity to show the people of Ontario how under the leadership of Premier Doug Ford, we will continue to keep our province resilient, ready and strong in the face of any emergency.

2026 successful recipients have been notified, and we will begin those announcements in the near future.
