Chapleau and the Northern Mayors Meeting

We were invited to Chapleau to meet with our Northern Mayors. Chapleau Mayor Ryan Bignucolo hosted and we were joined by Wawa Mayor Melanie Pilon, Dubreuilville Mayor Beverly Nantel,
Manitouwadge Mayor Jim Moffat and Hornepayne’s Mayor Cheryl Fort . Also in attendance were Alamos Gold representative Austin Hemphill, and Discovery (Borden Mine) representative’s Gerry, Janice, and Donna.
We had candid conversations addressing the number of highway closures and how this affects the everyday lives community citizens as well as the economic impacts on the local mines and other businesses.
Another topic of discussion was how health and safety concerns are impacted when highways are closed for any length of time. We addressed maintenance issues and made suggestions for immediate changes, that when implemented, would lead to positive outcomes. Looking forward to meeting again soon!
