Agriculture Tour

We had a busy week this week. Minister Trevor Jones of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness was in our area along with his PA’s Paul Vickers and myself, Bill Rosenberg.

Our first stop – the Bauman’s new grain handling facility.

Algoma has seen a great increase in crop production including canola, beans and other grains.

Northern Ontario is becoming known for more than rocks and trees.

Congratulations!

We then moved down the highway to Penokeon Hills. Minister Trevor Jones was really impressed with this new facility and remarked how it demonstrated what Northern Ontario can do in food production.

Mike Tulloch gave us a brief summary to how Penokeon started – where Penokeon Hills is today and where it will be in the future. Along with the retail counter in Bruce Mines, Penokeon has recently opened another retail store in North Bay.

We had the pleasure of sampling some tasty meats that were produced right here in Bruce Mines. Congratulations to all that have played a part of the success story in the agri-food business .
