Elliot Lake, ON – On Friday, MPP Bill Rosenberg met with representatives from the City of Elliot Lake to formally congratulate them on the work done as a result of receiving a $200,000 Capital grant from the Ontario government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The grant, awarded last summer, funded the purchase and installation of a new HVAC system at Collins Hall, ensuring the facility can continue serving residents year-round in a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment while extending the life of one of the community’s most important public facilities.
“Congratulations to the City of Elliot Lake on the successful completion of the $200,000 HVAC renovation at Collins Hall, made possible through funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation,” said Bill Rosenberg, MPP for Algoma-Manitoulin. “This important upgrade has replaced the facility’s HVAC system, significantly improving indoor air quality and enhancing comfort for everyone who uses this multi-use community space. The investment helps ensure Collins Hall remains a safe, healthy, and welcoming gathering place for residents and community groups for years to come. Thank you to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for supporting projects that strengthen community spaces and improve quality of life across Ontario. Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this valuable improvement to fruition,” added MPP Rosenberg.
The previous HVAC system at Collins Hall had been inoperable for several years, limiting the comfort and functionality of the building, particularly during the warmer months. Through this investment, the City has installed a new HVAC system that improves air quality, temperatures, and enhances the overall experience for the thousands of residents and visitors who use the facility each year.
“Collins Hall has been a cornerstone of our community for decades, continually evolving to meet the changing needs of Elliot Lake,” said Mayor Andrew Wannan. “Whether it’s hosting recreational programs, concerts, summer day camps, fundraising events, or serving as an emergency evacuation centre, Collins Hall is one of our community’s most valued public spaces. Council remains committed to investing in infrastructure that protects these important facilities for future generations, and we are sincerely grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for helping us preserve and strengthen this vital community asset.”
